13th Anniversary Stream Post-Mortem

And with the conclusion of Pony Life the Anniversary stream has run the course of official G4 content. Thank you for attending this years event. I hope you had a decent time.

I know some of you were less than pleased with the ad hoc nature of the schedule this year and for that you have my deepest apologies. The person who usually makes a schedule spreadsheet for the mods to follow, whom you guys know as the Cadance fursuiter, had already used up all their energy and PTO going to a bunch of cons this year. Which I absolutely can not blame them for. And I've been swamped dealing with estate/probate court stuff this whole past year since my mother passed away last Nov, as well as my house being torn apart since we are replacing all the floors.

In hindsight I should have taken more PTO myself in the weeks prior to create a more solid plan. But I didn't want to take too much time off because I still need to take a roadtrip up to Seattle sometime in Nov/Dec to bring new server and router hardware to the colocation center. In my quest against disappearing content, I've built an 88TB fileserver and its been running in my closet for a year as I got it fully upgraded. Now it finally is. I also bought a 10 gig router because I want to do everything I can to help out buffer bros, and minimize reliance on YouTube doing the heavy lifting for us. As some of you may be aware, YouTube is getting worse all the time and while our event was going on they were starting the roll-out of their "disable adblock or fuck off" campaign. This sort of shit is why I've never given up on running my own video CDN.

All the extra prep time I did spend was in pursuit of the more advanced fallback system we used this year. I hope it helped you guys have a more consistent stream quality compared to last year. By the time the event rolled around I didn't have the energy to try to micromanage the mods facilitation of every single filler request. So I didn't even try. I was making sure there were as many fallback sources as possible for as many things as possible.

Mistakes were made. All I can say is I'm sorry and things will be better next year.
